Dickson/Dixon, Hodgkinson/Hoskinson/Hoskins, Jones, McCowan, Moore, Stringer, Watkins

My Hoskins ancestors are descendants of John Hodgkinson, Sr. born about 1615.  My Hodkinson ancestors are from St. Johns Parish, Preston, Lancashire, England.  The immigrant  Thomas Hoskinson, Sr., was the son of John Hodgkinson, Jr. and Mary Birchall who were married April 13, 1678 in St. Johns Parish, Preston, Lancashire, England.  Thomas left Liverpool, England as an indentured servant some time in 1699 aboard the ship Eleanor and died about 1742 in Prince George Co., MD.  My Hodkinson / Hoskinson ancestors migrated to Knox, Harlan, Clay & Laurel Counties in Kentucky and had dropped the 'on' from the name Hoskinson.

David Hoskins has a Hoskins Family History web site for the ancestors and descendants of Thomas Hoskinson Sr.

The McCown Family History web site is one you should look at if you have any McCown/McCowan ancestors. Information about my great grandmother Lucy McCowan is under the section Databases - The Virginia McCowns.
